Dharawal National Park: A Hidden Gem for Nude Hiking and Skinny Dipping

Dharawal National Park is practically in my backyard, and it has quickly become one of my go-to spots for nude hiking. Tucked away near where I live, this park offers the perfect blend of rugged, unmaintained trails and natural swimming spots, making it a naturist’s paradise. What I love most about Dharawal is its peaceful seclusion—it’s the kind of place where you can hike for hours without encountering a single textile. For those of us who prefer to explore nature without the constraints of clothing, it’s an absolute treasure.

The park is crisscrossed with unmaintained trails, some barely marked, which adds to the sense of adventure. These trails often lead you through dense bushland, up rocky hills, and alongside trickling creeks. The beauty of Dharawal lies in its wild, untamed charm. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find manicured paths or guided tours—this is nature in its raw form, and that’s exactly why I love it. As you hike, the soft sounds of birds and the rustling of leaves are your only companions, and the further you go, the more immersed you become in the natural world.

One of the best parts of hiking nude in Dharawal is the sheer number of creeks and swimming spots dotted throughout the park. After a long, sweaty hike, there’s nothing better than stripping down even more (if that’s possible) and plunging into one of the park’s cool, clear pools. The water is always refreshingly cold, even in the warmer months, and these hidden swimming spots offer complete privacy for a bit of skinny dipping. Some are tucked away beneath towering trees, others are open to the sky, with sunlight streaming through the branches. Each one feels like a secret discovery, a little oasis in the middle of the wild.

I’ve documented many of my nude hikes and swims in Dharawal, with photos and videos from April 2023 and more recently from May 2024. Each time I visit, the park reveals something new, whether it’s the changing seasons, the way the light falls differently, or just the pure joy of being in nature with nothing between you and the elements. The photos capture that feeling of freedom and connection, and every time I look back on them, I’m reminded of how special this place is.

There’s something about Dharawal that makes it easy to forget the outside world. You’re so far from the noise and chaos of daily life that it feels like a completely different universe. The trails, though rough and unmaintained, are like pathways to solitude, leading you deeper into the heart of the park. And with very few people around, especially textiles, it’s the perfect place to enjoy the naturist lifestyle without interruption or judgment.

In my many visits, I’ve rarely come across another soul, which only adds to the sense of freedom. I can hike fully nude for hours, taking in the sights and sounds of nature, stopping for a swim whenever the mood strikes. It’s a rare and wonderful thing to feel so at home in the wild, and Dharawal National Park offers that experience in spades.

If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend exploring Dharawal—whether you’re a fellow naturist or simply someone looking for a peaceful escape into nature. And for those of us who embrace the clothes-free lifestyle, this park is a true hidden gem, offering the perfect combination of seclusion, adventure, and natural beauty. Just bring your sense of curiosity and a towel for those refreshing creek swims—you’ll need it!
