Foundational Petitions – Supporting Cultural Reform
At NaturismRE, we believe lasting change begins not just in the lawbooks, but in hearts, minds, and culture. While our Bills and Acts are designed to reform outdated legislation, some of our most important efforts focus on education, awareness, and social attitudes.
This section presents foundational petitions that do not yet form part of a Bill or Act, but serve as key pillars of cultural reform. These petitions reflect widespread public support for the principles NaturismRE stands for — body acceptance, environmental harmony, and individual choice — and help lay the groundwork for future legislative action.
1. Integrating Naturism/Nudism Education – A Path to Better Health, Body Positivity & Social Well-Being

https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/integrating-naturism-nudism-education-a-path-to-better-health-body-positivity-social-well-being.html
This petition calls for the introduction of age-appropriate, consent-based education surrounding the principles of naturism and nudism — not as a lifestyle requirement, but as a means to promote mental health, body positivity, social respect, and emotional resilience.
The petition proposes that:
Students should be introduced to diverse body types in a respectful, non-sexual context.
Education on natural living, sustainability, and the historical role of nudity in various cultures be included in health or social studies curricula.
All learning materials prioritise consent, respect, and diversity, ensuring no child or parent is forced into uncomfortable content.
While this petition is not currently part of any formal legislation, it is being used as a support document for a future proposed Bill: The Education Freedom & Body Acceptance Act — currently under preparation by NaturismRE.
By signing this petition, you're helping send a powerful message to educators, parents, policy-makers and health professionals:
A healthier, more respectful future starts with better education today.
This petition will be submitted to key decision-makers across Australia’s educational and mental health sectors, including:

2.Recognise Naturism as a Legitimate Philosophical Belief System Deserving of Protection
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/recognise-naturism-as-a-legitimate-philosophical-belief-system-deserving-of-protection.html
We, the undersigned, call on Australian institutions, human rights bodies, and educational organisations to formally recognise naturism as a legitimate philosophical belief system, deserving of the same respect and protection afforded to other ethical worldviews such as veganism, pacifism, or environmental minimalism.
Naturism is not simply a preference for non-sexual nudity. It is a deeply held ethical framework built around:
Body autonomy and body acceptance
Ecological simplicity and sustainability
Personal freedom from material and social constraints
Peaceful coexistence with others and with nature
Despite this, many naturists face exclusion, misunderstanding, or silent discrimination — especially when their lifestyle is expressed in professional, educational, or public settings.
We respectfully request that:
Naturism be acknowledged as a protected philosophical belief system under anti-discrimination frameworks
Employers and institutions be encouraged to accommodate naturist beliefs, such as through clothing flexibility, respectful inclusion, and freedom of expression (within dress codes)
Universities and schools allow academic exploration of naturism in ethics, health, sustainability, and human rights subjects — not as physical practice, but as a legitimate philosophical position
This petition is part of a broader cultural reform effort by NaturismRE, a movement committed to promoting body respect, personal freedom, and sustainable living for all.
Who This Petition Will Be Sent To:
Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)

3.Recognise Naturism as a Spiritual Path Rooted in Nature, Peace, and Personal Growth
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/recognise-naturism-as-a-spiritual-path-rooted-in-nature-peace-and-personal-growth.html
We, the undersigned, respectfully call for the formal recognition of naturism as a spiritual path — a belief system that guides life through principles of peace, harmony with nature, simplicity, and reverence for the human body.
For many, naturism is not just a lifestyle choice. It is a form of spiritual connection that encourages:
Grounding in nature as a source of balance, wisdom, and renewal
Embracing the human body without shame, as a reflection of natural truth
Living mindfully, with minimal environmental impact and material consumption
Practising community, vulnerability, and non-judgement
Naturists who follow this spiritual path often:
Engage in seasonal or nature-based observances
Practise mindful rituals such as meditation, grounding, or breathwork outdoors
Consider nudity a sacred state of being, not a provocation
We request that:
Naturism be recognised as a valid spiritual framework under spiritual freedom and diversity laws
Public institutions, workplaces, and schools respect the expression of naturist spirituality
Charities and not-for-profits supporting this path be considered for spiritual status recognition
This petition supports the work of Naturis Sancta, a peaceful spiritual path rooted in nature and the affirmation of life.
Who This Petition Will Be Sent To:
Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) – for freedom of belief protections
Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) – for future recognition of spiritual movements
Faith and Spiritual Diversity Councils within universities, hospitals, and multicultural organisations
Multicultural Affairs Offices (state and federal) for inclusion in Australia’s recognised spiritual communities
Relevant public bodies managing inclusion, chaplaincy, or diversity policies
4.Create Designated Clothing-Optional Zones in National Parks and Public Trails
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/create-designated-clothing-optional-zones-in-national-parks-and-public-trails.html
Please note NRE had already launched a NSW ONLY petition: https://www.change.org/clothingOptional - feel free to support it as well
We, the undersigned, call for the introduction of clearly marked clothing-optional zones in selected national parks and public trails across Australia. This initiative would support body autonomy, eco-tourism, mental health, and respectful access to nature — while maintaining the rights of textile users through signage and zoning.
Naturism, when practised respectfully, is not sexual, obscene, or offensive. It is a peaceful, body-positive, and environmentally conscious way to connect with the natural world.
Australia already has beaches that support clothing-optional use, but natural trails and bushwalking areas remain legally unclear or restrictive, despite the low risk and high benefit of allowing designated access.
We respectfully request:
National parks authorities to establish designated clothing-optional trails and picnic areas with clear signage and entry/exit rules
A legal framework allowing local rangers and councils to create such zones with community input and consent
Mutual respect principles for both clothed and unclothed users, including clear codes of conduct, no-photography rules, and zero tolerance for harassment
This initiative supports:
Mental health benefits through nature immersion and body acceptance
Tourism growth, including domestic and international naturist visitors
Environmental appreciation, by encouraging respectful, minimalist use of public lands
This petition is part of NaturismRE’s cultural reform platform promoting sustainable, respectful access to natural spaces for all.
Who This Petition Will Be Sent To:
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and equivalent state-level park authorities
State Ministers for Environment & Tourism (NSW, VIC, QLD, etc.)
Local Councils in high-potential nature access areas
Tourism Australia and Ecotourism bodies
Environmental Planning Departments and Public Land Access Committees
Ranger Associations and Parks Community Liaison Boards
5.Launch a National Public Dialogue on Body Autonomy, Nudity Laws, and Social Respect
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/launch-a-national-public-dialogue-on-body-autonomy-nudity-laws-and-social-respect.html
We, the undersigned, urge the Australian Government and civil institutions to initiate a national public dialogue on body autonomy, nudity laws, and the evolving role of non-sexual nudity in a respectful, modern society.
Current laws relating to public nudity are often outdated, inconsistently enforced, and leave room for bias, fear, or moral panic. As a result, Australians practising simple, peaceful acts — like sunbathing, skinny dipping, or hiking — may face unjust fines, shaming, or even criminal charges, despite no harm being caused.
The public deserves an opportunity to:
Discuss openly the difference between nudity and indecency
Consider modern social norms around body positivity, mental health, and climate-conscious living
Hear from experts in mental health, ethics, law, Indigenous culture, and sustainability
We call on government and civil agencies to:
Fund and host a national inquiry, roundtable, or awareness campaign
Ensure multi-sector representation (psychology, law, Indigenous voices, youth, naturists)
Promote evidence-based conversation, not sensationalism
This is not about encouraging mass nudity — it’s about maturing as a society and recognising that nudity, in the right context, is not offensive — it’s natural.
This petition forms part of NaturismRE’s movement for dignity, dialogue, and cultural awareness.
Who This Petition Will Be Sent To:
Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)
Attorney-General’s Department – for legal policy consideration
Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs (Federal Parliament)
Ministers for Health, Education, and Multicultural Affairs
State Justice Departments (NSW, VIC, QLD, etc.)
ABC, SBS, and national media forums as a proposal for a national televised forum
University Ethics Centres & Mental Health Research Councils for involvement in public consultation
6.Permit Clothing-Optional Events in Public Spaces Under Controlled Conditions
https://www.gopetition.com/petitions/permit-clothing-optional-events-in-public-spaces-under-controlled-conditions.html
We, the undersigned, call on Australian state and local authorities to create a clear, respectful, and legally protected framework for permitting clothing-optional events in public spaces, under defined and controlled conditions.
Currently, individuals or organisations wishing to host a body-positive or naturist event in a park, beach, or other public space face legal uncertainty, unclear permit pathways, and the risk of harassment or prosecution — even when the intent is peaceful, respectful, and non-sexual.
Events such as:
Nature-based meditation, yoga, or spiritual observances
Body-positivity walks or charity events
Environmental clean-ups (e.g. nude beach or trail cleaning days)
Art installations or social awareness projects (e.g. Spencer Tunick-style gatherings)
Clothing-optional bushwalks or picnics
...are all examples of socially valuable activities that should be allowed to proceed in public spaces with proper permissions and mutual respect.
We respectfully request:
Local councils and relevant permit authorities to introduce a standard permit application process for clothing-optional events, with defined criteria and conduct expectations
That such events be clearly signposted, with time-limited access, to protect the rights of both participants and non-participants
That organisers be permitted to promote such events without fear of criminalisation, provided the event is non-sexual, peaceful, and conducted under agreed guidelines
This is not about promoting public nudity as a default, but about recognising that clothing-optional events, when well-organised, are not indecent — they are expressions of culture, health, environmental stewardship, and freedom.
This petition is part of the NaturismRE cultural reform platform, seeking to ensure personal rights and public safety are balanced in modern Australia.
Who This Petition Will Be Sent To:
Local Councils across Australia, especially those with public beaches, parks, or bushland
State Police Community Engagement Units – to encourage education and support rather than punitive action
State Event Permit Authorities and Public Space Management Offices
Ministers for Local Government, Multicultural Affairs, and Community Services
